Introduction

Triathlon is a demanding and exhilarating sport that combines three disciplines: swimming, cycling, and running—all completed consecutively in a single race. It’s known as one of the toughest endurance events, testing an athlete’s strength, stamina, and mental toughness.

Originating in the 1970s in the United States, triathlon has grown into a global sport with amateur and professional events held worldwide. It became an Olympic sport in 2000, and continues to inspire athletes with its unique challenge of mastering three sports in one.

How the Games is Played

A triathlon involves completing the swim, bike, and run segments in that specific order. The transitions between each segment are also timed, making transition speed a key strategic element.

Key Rules & Transitions

Rules:

  • No drafting (riding closely behind another cyclist) in most non-professional races.

  • Helmets are mandatory on the bike.

  • Athletes must complete each segment within time limits.

  • No outside assistance is allowed during the race.

Transitions:

  • T1 (Swim to Bike) – Athletes run from the water to the transition area, put on their gear, and start cycling.

  • T2 (Bike to Run) – After racking the bike, they switch to running gear and hit the final stretch.

Efficiency in transitions can make or break a race!

Major Triathlon Events

Triathlon has a wide range of events, from community-level races to elite world championships.

  • Olympic Triathlon (Summer Olympics)

  • Ironman World Championship (Kona, Hawaii)

  • ITU World Triathlon Series

  • Challenge Family Series

About The App

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book.

It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
