Introduction
Volleyball is a fast-paced and exciting team sport that requires agility, teamwork, and strategic play. How the Game is Played.
- Volleyball is played between two teams of six players on a court divided by a net.
- The goal is to send the ball over the net and land it in the opponent’s court to score points.
- Teams can touch the ball up to three times before returning it over the net.
- The game is played in best-of-five sets, with sets played to 25 points (except the deciding set, which goes to 15 points).
Key Rules & Positions
- Serving: The ball is put into play by serving it over the net from behind the end line.
- Passing (Bumping): Players use their forearms to direct the ball toward the setter.
- Setting: The setter positions the ball for a teammate to spike it over the net.
- Attacking (Spiking): A powerful hit aimed at the opponent’s court.
- Blocking: Players at the net attempt to stop or deflect a spike.
- Digging: A defensive move to prevent the ball from touching the court.
Player Positions
- Setter: The playmaker, responsible for setting up attacks.
- Outside Hitter (Left Side): A key attacker and defensive player.
- Opposite Hitter (Right Side): A strong hitter positioned on the right side of the court.
- Middle Blocker: Specializes in blocking and quick attacks.
- Libero: A defensive specialist who cannot attack but excels in passing and digging.
- Defensive Specialist: A back-row player focused on defense and serve reception.
